Introduction: What is Meditation?

In this world where everything is moving so fast and time being so less, it is obvious to have stress and tiredness. All this stress and tiredness forces us to have negative thoughts, unhappiness, impatient and frustrated. Adversely, it hampers our life and even lead to mental breakdown and other illness. To keep up the pace with this world, we often find no time to stop for anything, not even for meditate. It is because we believe wasting time in meditation would yield to nothing but the loss of time. This is where most of us go wrong. Practicing meditation would not only help one to calm his/her mind but also helps to stay more focused which ultimately gives one a lot of time to manage things and stay up with the pace.

"Buddhist meditation gives us time to slow down and wake up."

How to Meditate

To begin with meditation, first of all, we should keep ourselves CALM and FOCUSED. It is obvious that our mind wanders all around and get lost in multiple thoughts. It is not wrong as it is very natural for brain to keep thinking. To bring our mind control, we meditate.

Start with breathing and concentrate on it. Once we build our focus on breathing, we later on will use this focus to build insights. The ultimate goal of Buddhist meditation is to create mindfulness.

Meditation
"Awareness is the KEY!"

People often place a Buddha statue in front of them to develop concentration. Start with a 5 minute meditation practice.

  1. Take your seat: Cross-legged is more preferable.
  2. Sitting posture: Hands on your thighs. Relax
  3. Concentrate on breathing: Be attentive while you breathe-in and breathe-out. FOCUS.

This is a simple technique you should start if you are a beginner.
