Description

This exceptional antique bronze Shan Buddha statue stands at 50 cm and features exquisite traces of 24-karat gilding, illuminating its intricate craftsmanship. With beautifully draped garments, the statue embodies the elegance of the Shan style, originating from the Tai Yai ethnic group prevalent in Myanmar.

Dating back to the 18th century, this piece represents a rich cultural heritage and spiritual significance. The Shan tradition is known for its unique artistic expressions, combining elements from both Burmese and Thai influences. The statue is adorned with Burmese inscriptions at its base, enhancing its historical value and connection to the region's religious practices.

The Bhumisparsha mudra, if applicable, symbolizes the moment of Buddha's enlightenment, where he calls the Earth to witness his attainment of truth. This gesture reflects themes of stability and grounding, resonating deeply with the teachings of Buddhism.

Burma, now Myanmar, has a long-standing history of producing significant religious artifacts that reflect its diverse cultures and traditions. This statue not only serves as a remarkable art piece but also as a testament to the spirituality and artistic mastery of its era. Weighing 9.12 kg and measuring 37.5 cm wide and 22 cm deep, it makes an impressive addition to any collection, embodying both beauty and historical resonance.
