This exquisite Buddha statue, standing at 66 cm tall and weighing 3.5 kg, is a remarkable representation of spiritual artistry from Burma (Myanmar), dating back to the early 20th century. Crafted from wood and gilded with 24-karat gold, the statue embodies a rich tradition of Buddhist craftsmanship, reflecting both reverence and the aesthetic sensibilities of its time.

The Buddha is depicted in the Vitarka mudra, a hand gesture that symbolizes the transmission of teachings and the cycle of birth, life, and enlightenment. This mudra signifies the importance of knowledge and understanding, inviting viewers to contemplate the deeper meanings of the Buddha's teachings.

The statue rests gracefully atop a beautifully crafted lotus flower pedestal, a powerful symbol in Buddhism representing purity, enlightenment, and rebirth. The lotus, with its vibrant colors, enhances the visual appeal and spiritual significance of the piece.

Burma has a long and storied history of Buddhism, with roots that trace back over two millennia. This cultural backdrop enriches the value of the statue, making it not just a decorative item, but a meaningful artifact that connects the viewer to centuries of spiritual practice and tradition. This piece is a perfect addition for those who appreciate both history and the profound teachings of Buddhism.
