Description

This exquisite standing crowned Buddha statue originates from Burma (Myanmar) and dates back to the middle of the 20th century. Crafted from wood, it measures 70.5 cm in height, 18.5 cm in width, and 10.5 cm in depth, showcasing intricate artistry and cultural significance.

The statue exemplifies the traditional Burmese style, characterized by detailed carvings and a serene expression. The crown symbolizes enlightenment and the Buddha's noble status, while the flowing robes convey a sense of grace and tranquility. Such figures are often venerated in homes and temples, serving as reminders of the teachings of Buddhism.

The mudra represented here is the Dharmachakra, which signifies the turning of the wheel of Dharma, emblematic of the Buddha's first teachings. It serves as a reminder of the path to enlightenment and the dissemination of wisdom.

Burma's rich history in Buddhism spans centuries, with the religion influencing art, culture, and daily life. The craftsmanship of this statue not only reflects the religious devotion of its creators but also the blending of local traditions with broader Buddhist themes. This piece is not merely a decorative object but a meaningful representation of heritage and spiritual practice, making it a valuable addition to any collection.
