Description

This exquisite collection features an Old Buddha accompanied by three monk statues, originating from Burma (Myanmar) and crafted in the middle of the 20th century. The statues, made from wood and gilded with 24-karat gold, exemplify the rich artistic tradition of the Mandalay style, known for its intricate detailing and spiritual significance.

In Burmese culture, the depiction of the Buddha alongside monks signifies the importance of the monastic community in the pursuit of enlightenment. Each figure captures the serene essence of Buddhist teachings, reflecting the devotion and reverence that underpin Burmese spirituality.

The craftsmanship reveals the skill of artisans from the Mandalay region, a hub of Buddhist art where the production of devotional objects flourished. The use of gold leaf not only enhances the visual appeal of the statues but also symbolizes purity and enlightenment, key concepts in Buddhism.

These figures stand at 15 cm in height, with a width of 31.5 cm and a depth of 6 cm, making them suitable for various display settings. Their historical and cultural significance adds depth to any collection, inviting appreciation for the spiritual heritage and artistic legacy of Burma. This extraordinary piece serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of Buddhist art and the continuing relevance of its teachings in today's world.
