The newly made Burmese lacquerware vessel, originating from the historic town of Bagan in Myanmar, represents a vibrant tradition deeply rooted in the country’s cultural heritage. Standing at 51 cm tall and featuring a 56 cm diameter, this vessel beautifully showcases the intricate craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.

Lacquerware in Burma dates back over a thousand years, with Bagan being a significant center for this art form. The artisans use layers of sap from the lacquer tree, skillfully applying and polishing it to create a durable and glossy finish. The artistry often incorporates elaborate designs inspired by nature, local folklore, and Buddhist motifs, reflecting the rich spiritual and artistic history of the region.

The striking red hue of this piece, combined with detailed engravings, enhances its visual appeal. This vessel not only serves as a functional item but also as an exquisite decorative piece that captures the essence of Burmese craftsmanship. Weighing 3.9 kg, this lacquerware demonstrates both beauty and resilience, making it a treasured addition to any collection or home.

Owning such a vessel is not just about possessing a piece of art; it connects one with the rich traditions and stories of Myanmar, allowing for a greater appreciation of its historical significance.
