Standing at 30.7 cm tall and gilded with 24-karat gold, this statue showcases the distinctive Mandalay style, characterized by its elegant proportions and detailed workmanship.

Originating from Burma (Myanmar), a country with a rich history in Buddhist art, this statue captures the reverence that the local culture holds for spirituality and meditation. The intricate details, including the application of precious stones and gold leaf, reflect the high level of skill and devotion among artisans of the time.

Notably, this statue features a hollow space in the backside of the base, which is traditionally used to hold relics, adding to its sacred allure. The Bhumisparsha mudra, depicted in the statue, symbolizes the moment of enlightenment when the Buddha reached a profound understanding of existence. This gesture represents the call for the earth to witness the truth of his enlightenment, making it an important symbol for practitioners seeking wisdom and inner peace.
