Description

The Antique Nepali Oil Lamp, known as a Sukunda, is a remarkable artifact originating from Nepal, dating back to the 19th century. This beautifully crafted piece, made from bronze, stands at 13.3 cm tall and features an intricate design, showcasing both artistic and functional attributes of traditional Nepali metalwork.

The Sukunda serves as a symbolic vessel often used in rituals and ceremonies, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. The detailed figure of Ganesha, a revered deity in Hindu tradition who embodies wisdom and the removal of obstacles, is prominently featured, enhancing the lamp’s spiritual significance. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the lamp's aesthetic features include elegant ribbed patterns, which signify both beauty and the artisanal skill of the era.

Artisans in the region traditionally used bronze to create various items, with each piece often embodying unique artistic styles rooted in centuries of cultural practices. This antique oil lamp not only provides illumination but also serves as a testament to the enduring traditions of Nepali craftsmanship, making it a valuable addition to any collection or home.
