Description

This Antique Burmese Nat statue stands at an impressive height of 56 cm and is crafted from wood, dating back to the 19th century. Gilded in 24-karat gold, it showcases exquisite craftsmanship and cultural significance. Originating from Burma (Myanmar), this piece reflects the rich spiritual heritage of the region, where Nats are spirit beings revered in Burmese culture.

The statue's intricate design, with its detailed attire and serene expression, embodies the essence of Burmese artistry. Nats are believed to be spirits of nature and ancestors, integral to the belief system of the local people. Each Nat represents various aspects of life, from fertility to protection, creating a deep connection between nature and spirituality.

The dimensions of the statue—27 cm in width and 25 cm in depth—along with its substantial weight of 8.15 kg, contribute to its imposing presence. The use of gold leaf not only enhances its beauty but also symbolizes purity and divinity in Buddhist traditions.

In the rich tapestry of Myanmar's history, Nats persist as an enduring symbol of the country's cultural identity, embodying a unique blend of animism, Buddhism, and local folklore.
