Description

The Antique Bronze Thai Lanna Buddha statue stands at an impressive height of 76.5 cm, radiating the rich spiritual heritage of Thailand. Crafted in the 19th century, this exquisite piece reflects the Lanna style, characterized by its unique features and ornate detailing. The statue showcases oxidated bronze with a distinct green hue on the face, hinting at its age and the passage of time.

The Bhumisparsha mudra, or "earth-touching gesture," depicted in this statue symbolizes the moment of enlightenment, where the Buddha calls upon the earth as a witness to his resolve against Mara, the embodiment of temptation. Originally adorned with inlaid eyes, these features have aged gracefully, enhancing the statue’s historical value.

Originating from the Lanna Kingdom in Northern Thailand, this region has a rich cultural tapestry influenced by both Buddhist traditions and local artistry. The craftsmanship exhibited in this statue illustrates the dedication of artisans who, centuries ago, sought to embody spiritual presence through bronze work. Standing at 46.5 cm wide and 29.5 cm deep, this piece is not just a decorative object but a timeless symbol of faith and artistry, inviting admiration and contemplation.
