Description

The Antique Bronze Mandalay Buddha is a remarkable representation of Burmese artistic heritage, dating back to the 19th century. Standing 42 cm tall and gilded with 24-karat gold, this statue exemplifies the exquisite craftsmanship of the Mandalay style, renowned for its fluid lines and intricate detailing.

Burmese culture, particularly during the Konbaung Dynasty, flourished in the production of religious art, and this statue serves as a testament to that era's devotion and artistry. The inlaid eyes enhance its spiritual presence, reflecting the inner serenity associated with Buddhist practice.

The Bhumisparsha mudra, which signifies the moment of the Buddha's enlightenment, is prominently depicted in this statue. This gesture symbolizes the Buddha's overcoming of ignorance and the quest for truth, inviting contemplation and reflection. The composition reflects a balance of simplicity and grandeur, resonating with the core principles of Buddhism.

This statue is not just an artifact but a piece of history that offers insight into the spiritual and cultural life of Burma (Myanmar), a region rich in Buddhist traditions throughout the centuries. Weighing 11.5 kg, the Antique Bronze Mandalay Buddha stands as a meaningful addition to any collection, embodying the convergence of art, spirituality, and historical significance.
