This antique bronze Burmese Buddha statue, measuring 32.9 cm in height, 24 cm in width, and 19.2 cm in depth, represents a significant period in the rich history of Burmese sculpture from the 19th century. Crafted during the Amarapura period, it features intricate details and a stylistic design reflective of the period's artistic tendencies. The statue's craftsmanship illustrates a blend of religious devotion and fine art, showcasing the influence of Theravada Buddhism, which is predominant in Myanmar.

The Varada mudra, which is frequently depicted in such statues, symbolizes the gesture of granting wishes or bestowing blessings. This mudra reinforces the figure's role as a compassionate being, reinforcing the spiritual connection between the statue and its viewers.

Buddhism has a long-standing history in Myanmar, with its roots tracing back to the 3rd century BCE. Over time, the country developed its unique traditions and artistic expressions, notably during the Amarapura period, which is known for its elaborate and ornate depictions of the Buddha. This piece encapsulates that heritage, serving both as a religious artifact and a testament to the skilled artistry of Burmese artisans. Weighing 4.38 kg, this statue offers not only aesthetic value but also a profound spiritual presence, making it a perfect addition for collectors and enthusiasts of Buddhist art.
