Description

This exquisite 16th-century Burmese gilded wooden Buddha stand showcases rich traditions from Myanmar, a country renowned for its deep-rooted Buddhist heritage. Standing at 34 cm tall, this stately piece is lacquered and adorned with 24-carat gold, emphasizing the intricate craftsmanship typical of the period.

Notably featuring a stunning lotus motif, this stand represents purity and enlightenment, significant themes in Buddhist art. The lotus is a revered symbol that signifies the journey toward spiritual awakening, emerging from muddy waters yet blossoming beautifully above the surface. The base measures 21.7 cm in diameter and is complemented by the stand's overall diameter of 37.2 cm, allowing for a display that marries elegance with history.

Despite its age, the piece remains in nearly perfect condition, reflecting the skilled artisanship of its time. The use of vibrant red on the platform contrasts beautifully with the gilded details, enhancing its visual appeal.

Burma's history is replete with a unique blend of cultural influences, where Buddhism has played a central role in shaping the artistic expressions of its people. This Buddha stand serves not merely as a decorative item but as a testament to the enduring legacy and spiritual significance within Burmese culture.
